Most of them are located in either Jefferson or Oswego Counties.

The only barns I know of in Florida are up in Ocala.Horse country. And they all seem new.Love the old ones.Beautiful photos,as always,Sue!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chris. I didn't realize that there weren't that many barns in Florida, Chris, but like you said, there are a lot of horse farms in Florida. Several of the barns in New York State are gradually disappearing either from neglect or damage from large, heavy amounts of snow. I only hope that they continue to be treasured pieces of our landscape.
DeleteYou have a picture of my all time favorite barn, the white barn with the green roof just outside of Bellville. You also have a picture of the farm my husband's brother-in-law works on. That is the one across from my favorite barn. :)

I'm glad you recognized these beautiful barns outside of Belleville in the Town of Ellisburg. I'll always remember the first time we drove through Ellisburg and there was a sign that said: "Ellisburg: The Town of Tall Silos". They have such beautiful barns that are well taken care of. That community has a lot to be proud of. Thanks for commenting, Irene.
DeleteThey are all pretty Sue, but nothing says "barn" quite like all those red barns. Beautiful images. You even have some in the snow. I know most chores still need doing, but being on a farm in the snow is something special with a warm fire and a fresh, frothy hot chocolate.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Donna. A red barn really stands out in the landscape, and I think the red barns are my favorite, too. I've seen some people paint weathered barns red to try to restore some color to them. It nice to see them well taken care of.
DeleteIt has to be pretty rough this time of year for farmers, especially when we've had below 0 temperatures for so long and lots of snow, to do barn chores. We've had so much snow this year that I know some of the farmers are having to shovel the roofs of their barns off.
But it is very special to warm up in front of the fire and snuggle up with your cat or dog (or both), drink hot chocolate and watch the snow fall.
Enjoyed each photo and brings back some memories of
ReplyDeletegrowing up on a dairy farm in the Pacific NW and that was
many years ago. Thank you. Phyllis
Thank you, Phyllis. New York still has a lot of large operating dairy farms. They really add to the beauty of our countryside. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteI love everyone of these photographs Sue and they each have a personal story to tell. My favorites are the older looking ones. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lee. I'm glad you liked them. Yes, they are each unique in their own way and I'm sure there are many stories that they could reveal. The older barns certainly have a lot of character. Thanks for your comments.
DeleteSue one of the reasons I loved driving the back roads of Oswego County was to see the barns....a few I think I recognized even. Where is that last building located....it is beautiful. You captured some really nice ones and I love the shot of the pond.
ReplyDeleteThank you, and Donna, the last building was photographed in the parking lot in Pulaski at the County Courthouse. My husband was registering one of our vehicles at the Motor Vehicle Dept and I was sitting in the parking lot admiring that building. Luckily I had my camera with me and there was no one parked in front of us. Had a nice view of it. I don't think it would be as noticeable if the trees were in bloom.
DeleteI think Oswego County and Jefferson County have some really great barns, too.
